The Sanctum
Toronto, Ontario
•IN RING•
As Frontline kicked off, the crowd eagerly awaited the arrival of Gabe Shelley after the announcement on Twitter that Shelley would have the floor to kick off the show. Instead, ‘I Am The Fire’ by Halestorm blasted through The Sanctum speakers and the crowd exploded in cheers, albeit a little confused. Alyssa Daniels stepped out onto the stage, her first appearance since Wideawake: Ex Inferno without the Elysium World Championship.
Still, Daniels didn’t look any less pleased by the overwhelming support from the Elysium fanbase as she smiled looking over the crowd. She walked down to the ring with an almost barely noticeable hitch in her step, likely the brutal matches she had been in as of late taking their toll. She rolled into the ring and was handed a microphone by ringside staff.
“Hello Toronto!” Daniels said.
Cheap pop, but effective nonetheless.
“I’m tellin’ ya, no matter how many times I hear you guys scream, it will never get old. I love it! Nevertheless, I know you were expecting someone else but I thought I’d come out and address that thing, that missing thing.”
She motioned at her waist as the crowd booed in response.
“Look, I know there’s this whole big debate that could be made for both sides. Gabe Shelley’s interference could be seen as a mark against me. Isabella hitting me with a chair shot could be seen as a mark against Miguel. It was a mess from start to finish. But no matter the path, this is where we stand. Miguel is your Elysium World Champion and I am starting over, finding my way back. But don’t you worry, Toronto! I will do exactly that. I will put in all the work and find a way to earn another shot at that championship! And that work starts tonight as I yet again find myself in the ring with Enigma Protocol. But I’m not alone. No matter his reasons for his actions these past few weeks, my partner will be just as motivated to put these poor dogs down. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll get to hear exactly what those reasons are here tonight! With that said, allow me to reintroduce you to the legend that is… Gabe Shelley!”
There was a roar from the fans in attendance as Shelley hit the stage. He took a moment to soak it in and then made a beeline for the ring, rolling right in and popping up to his feet. He stoped beside Daniels and offered a handshake before she handed him a microphone.
“Thank you for that.” Shelley looked around and then over to Daniels. “This is a moment that I never really thought would be happening again. Standing here in the ring, surrounded by all of you. I was done with wrestling and was content on working to train young talent. The series of events with Finale made me realize how much I missed being in the ring. So that’s why I’m here, right?”
He smirked and walked around the ring, scratching his head.
“It sounds good but it’s not why I’m here. Just as I said on social media this week I’m also not here because I think Alyssa Daniels needs the back up. She’s super talented and while the odds are even with me on her side tonight, I know she’s more than capable. I’m also not here because I have something against the Enigma Protocol. They just happen to be caught in the crossfire. Ramona Holiday wants answers? I’m sure you all want answers too. The thing is, I can’t give them yet. It’ll ruin the surprise.”
The fans, and Daniels, almost seemed disappointed.
“I will tell you this. Tonight, Alyssa and I are going to get the job done and defeat the Protocol. In a perfect world we’d defeat Gates and Villalobos tonight and Alyssa Daniels would be granted a rematch for the World Championship. Sadly, with Ramona Holiday and the rest of the Leadership in charge she might not get that chance. So we’re going to have to give them no choice but to do so. We come out tonight and dismantle the former Tag Team Champions and show them that Daniels and Shelley each mean business. Tonight, Alyssa shows why she’s one of the best here in Elysium. I show that I’ve still got it. I show that I mean business. I show that I’m not some sort of washed up legend. I show that I can enter this ring with a World Champion and still take them down. The marVel has come to Elysium Pro and it’s time to send a message.”
Shelley dropped his microphone as he patted Daniels on the back and head out of the ring.
•SINGLES MATCH•
DANNY HALL vs. ZAFAR KHAN
The first match of the night was a showcase of sorts. Two competitors that won in their respective debuts last week went head to head. Hall taunted Khan off the top and was successful in goading the young crowd favourite right into an eye poke that went unnoticed by the referee. Hall took Khan down with a chop block and then stepped on Khan’s mid-section, stepping over him in a symbolic gesture.
Hall played to the audience, who resoundingly responded with a collective “fuck you”. Hall laughed and then turned right into an enziguiri by Khan which popped The Sanctum like you wouldn’t believe. But you will, because I’m telling you that it popped them.
Khan rushed Hall and went for a bicycle knee strike but Hall side stepped it and nailed Khan with an enziguiri of his own. Khan was rocked and staggered to a corner. Hall rushed him but Khan up and over’d him onto the apron. Khan turned to grab Hall but got caught with a rope hanging kick to the face. Khan staggered backward and Hall entered the ring, hitting Khan with a big boot and then a running senton that he likes to call Death By Hall. Hall covered but Khan kicked out.
“This is a big moment for both of these men. They both originally were signed to Glitches but are being given the opportunity to show their worth on Frontline due to their individual performances last week.” Thad Balk said.
“One that Khan is going to squander. Volkov handpicked Danny Hall. Hall is the future of Elysium.” Filth Murphy said.
Hall kept Khan grounded with a series of hard forearm shots which drew the ire of the fans in attendance. Hall didn’t like this, he stood up and started shouting at the audience which gave Khan a moment to roll out of the ring. Hall turned to see Khan and advanced to exited the ring but Khan grabbed Hall by the legs, tripped him and pulled him out of the ring. Hall shoved Khan off but Khan rallied back with a superkick that send Hall back in time.
The Sanctum was firmly behind Khan as he tried to capitalize but Hall caught him with a throat thrust and then set Khan up for a suplex but turned it into an x plex, dropping Khan right on the ring apron. Hall then shoved Khan under the ropes and entered the ring with him. Hall stomped on Khan mercilessly and then called out to the fans in The Sanctum that he loathed and said that the match was over.
“It’s done! Hall is going to make Volkov proud!” Murphy said.
Hall got Khan up and set him up for The Trendsetter (Belly to Back Piledriver) but Khan rolled through into a sunset flip and got the surprise three count.
Winner: Zafar Khan
Khan got his hand raised but Hall wasn’t having it. Hall charged and hit Khan with a chop block that took Khan down. Hall mounted Khan and laid into him with serious shouts before standing and stomping on Khan’s right hand. Hall stomped on Khan’s hand a half dozen times before dropping to his knees and grabbing Khan’s hand. Hall then proceeded to grab two of Khan’s fingers and snap them.
“This is completely uncalled for!” Balk said.
Khan writhed on the mat, nursing his hand as Hall exited the ring -- dejected but somewhat satisfied.
•BACKSTAGE•
The Elysium Iron Champion, “The Nightmare King” Lio Walsh was shown backstage in the catering area, title over his shoulder, watching the show on a monitor. Walsh was stone faced when a commotion caught his attention -- “The Greatkeeper” Jake Archer and his protege Spectre were walking through, Spectre was motivating Archer.
“This is it! Jake Archer starts his rise back to the top of Elysium!” Spectre said. Walsh shot the duo a look of pure malevolence that stopped them dead in their tracks.
“Sorry champ! Didn’t mean to disturb you!” Archer said.
Walsh said nothing, just eyed the champion. Archer in turn gazed down at the title belt over Walsh’s shoulder.
“Y’know champ, some would say that I helped make that title. I’ve been in a mess of Iron Title matches. Should have won it a bunch of times but y’know...politics.” Archer said, patting Walsh on the back. Walsh didn’t seem to like it. He stood and got in Archer’s face.
“But you never won it. I did. I am the champion and I will be for a long time.” Walsh said with a stern tone of voice.
“Of course champ! Of course!” Archer said, trying to calm the situation. “I know you’ve got Harrington at Parts Unknown but if you want to try and defend that thing before hand, I’d love another crack at it.”
Walsh scoffed. “Win your match tonight and I’ll see you at Glitches next week. I could use a warm up.”
Spectre slapped Archer on the back, happy for his mentor. Archer smirked, “Like I needed any more motivation. It’s a date my liege!” Archer said before bowing and walking out of frame, Spectre trailing him.
•SINGLES MATCH•
AMANI MSHAMBULIAJI vs. JAKE ARCHER w/ Spectre
Winner: Jake Archer
Following the match Spectre entered the ring and jumped on Archer with a hug. The two fell to the mat and celebrated like Archer won the World Championship. Mshambuliaji looked beyond shocked as Archer and Spectre celebrated -- almost too much.
•BACKSTAGE•
Danny Hall was shown walking through the backstage corridors of The Sanctum when he was approached by Frontline General Manager Ramona Holiday.
“Hmm, it seems that Volkov was wrong about you…” Holiday said but was interrupted.
“It was a fluke! A stroke of luck!” Hall said. “Get me in a ring with Khan again and I’ll bloody him, I’ll make sure he never wrestles again!”
Holiday looked displeased.
“Let me offer you a piece of advice, Hall -- never interrupt any member of The Leadership when we are speaking.” Holiday said “I like you Hall. The Leadership likes you. I like what you did to Khan after your match, it showed gusto. But you aren’t getting a championship match. Not after a loss. But we’ll be watching you.”
Just as Holiday finished her sentance, Zafar Khan came out of nowhere and smashed Hall with a forearm to the face. Khan was favouring his right hand, using his left to hit Hall. FORCE Security intervened but Holiday stopped them from dragging Khan off.
“Big win tonight kid.” Holiday said, getting face to face with Khan. “The Leadership decided to give the winner of your match a championship opportunity next week and since you won...you’ll get that opportunity. Next week on Frontline you will face whomever wins the Hybrid Championship match tonight. Best of luck.”
Holiday then gestures to FORCE Security and they drag Khan away as Hall yells obscenities from his position on the ground.
•SINGLES MATCH•
ATROPOS vs. TALIA AREANO
Atropos returned to the ring in singles competition for the first time since being ruthlessly attacked by F.M. Young. Atropos got a big time pop but didn’t seem to care, she was focussed. Talia Areano came to the ring to similar fanfare and seemed just as focussed.
The match started with a lock up that Areano quickly slipped out of and applied a hammerlock to Atropos. Atropos slipped out of it and got behind Areano with a hammerlock of her own. Areano dropped to all fours, backed through Atropos’ legs and went for a school girl but Atropos kept rolling backward, stood and went for a kick but Areano dropped to her back, kipped up and went for a hurricanranna. Atropos cartwheeled out of the hurricanranna and the two were at a stalemate.
Atropos shot on Areano but Areano tripped her up. Areano went for a standing moonsault but Atropos moved, then dove through with a pinning predicament of her own. Areano kicked out immediately and the two kipped up at the same time and were at a stalemate again.
“It seems that neither competitor can get the upper hand!” Thad Balk said.
Areano flashed a knowing smile and the two locked up again. This time Atropos forced Areano into a headlock but Areano shoved her into the ropes. On Atropos’ return Areano went for a hip toss but Atropos blocked it and went for a hip toss of her own. Areano went with it but flipped and landed on her feet. Areano went for a hurricanranna again and this time it took both of them over the top rope to the outside.
“As much as I don’t really care for either of them...this match is impressive.” Murphy said. We could hear him chug and swallow something right after that definitely wasn’t ovaltine.
Atropos was the first up but Areano blindsided her with a spear into the guard rail. Areano rolled Atropos back into the ring and then hit a springboard tornado DDT that spiked Atropos head first into the mat. Atropos got up to her knees and Areano slid in for the Rush Hour (Sliding Forearm Smash) but Atropos narrowly dodged it and caught Areano in the Chosen By Fate (Rear Naked Choke)! Areano had no choice but to submit.
Winner: Atropos
•INTERVIEW•
Somewhere backstage in The Sanctum we saw Elysium Interviewer Yuki Kita standing in front of a Frontline banner. She was joined by the former (and longest reigning) Tag Team Champions Enigma Protocol along with Isabella Villalobos. Isabella was carrying the Elysium World Championship for her brother Miguel. Miguel and Gates stood behind Isabella flanking her.
“I’m here with the Enigma Protocol. Thank you for joining me.” Kita said.
“What do you want Yuki? We are very busy. Miguel’s time is more precious than your life, so make it quick.” Miguel snarled as his sister spoke. Yuki visibly blanched and shrank back.
“Well, earlier in the night we heard from both Alyssa Daniels and Gabe Shelley. They seemed pretty confident that they will beat you two tonight. And that if they do Ms. Daniels should be granted a match against Miguel for the Elysium World Title. What are your thoughts on that?”
Isabella smirked and looks back at Gates and Miguel. “What are our thoughts? Why would we bother wasting thoughts on something that will never happen? Daniels has a horrible track record with teams against the Protocol. She has a poor record of being able to keep a partner. Her first one killed himself to avoid us, and her papi was not much help in keeping the Tag Titles away from us. Papi Daniels hasn’t been seen or heard of since he got his ass beat by us. So why should we worry about her and her third partner?”
Isabella let the question hang for a moment. Just as Yuki was about to answer she continued. “Alyssia wants to try and minimize her poor attempt to cheat her way into keeping her title. She wants to act like she has done nothing wrong. She knew she stood no chance against us without help. A point that has been proven for almost a year. You want to beat the Protocol you need help to do it. Doesn’t matter if it's singles match or tag team. She barely survived Miguel in his first challenge for the title. She failed in her second. She will fail every time she tries to come for him and HIS title. Elysium is his kingdom. It is no longer the Last Kingdom. It is the Kingdom of the Wolf. Tonight marks the fifth Main Event in a row Miguel has been in. The Enigma Protocol Headlined Nightfall. We are the future of Elysium Pro. We are the rulers. No one else shall ever get close to us. We held the Tag Titles for just under a year straight. Miguel plans to break that record as World Champion. Now, we have to go get ready to put down the first to insurgents to our Kingdom.”
Miguel grabbed Yuki’s hand and the microphone. “Esta noche dejamos las dos primeras víctimas. ¡Esta noche el Reino del Lobo es coronado en sangre!” The trip laugh as they walk away. Yuki sighs in relief as they leave.
•TRIAD MATCH•
ERIK HOLLAND, CASSIE SYKES, & MARCUS LEVINE vs. STATIC AGE
The ref called for the bell and it seemed that Morgan and LeVine were the ones to start the match. Scene and Kapstone went out onto the apron and were immediately pulled off by Sykes and Holland! Holland sent Kapstone head first into the guard rail and Sykes caught Scene with a jumping meteora.
In the ring LeVine ran and dropped Morgan with a SHOTGUN KICK! and Morgan was rocked. Outside Scene and Sykes brawled on the floor as Holland and Kapstone spilled into the crowd. In the ring Morgan got up to a knee and LeVine charged, smashing him with Bathe in the River Styx. Morgan was out cold and LeVine covered for the three count.
Winners: Erik Holland, Cassie Sykes, & Marcus LeVine
Following the match security broke up the scrum. Once the two teams were separated Scene and Kapstone left the ring and more specifically, they left Morgan down and out in the ring.

HYBRID CHAMPIONSHIP
•SINGLES MATCH•
YUUTO TATSUGAMI vs. F.M. YOUNG ©
The crowd was eager to see the next contest as “The Dragon Lord” Yuuto Tatsugami looked to take on “The Tiger” F.M. Young. The commentators noted that if Young got the victory, that would count as her second defense of the championship and she would only need to defend it three more times to secure a World Title match.
Young seemed to underestimate Tatsugami off the hop because he caught her with a lightning quick shoot kick and then a snap roundhouse kick. Young was sent reeling long enough for Tatsugami to smash her with a superman elbow followed by a bicycle knee for a quick two count.
“The fire that The Dragon Lord is showing here tonight is impressive!” Balk said.
“Even I would have resisted that fucking pun.” Murphy added.
Young caught a shin kick to the stomach and then Tatsugami pilled her head back and attempted the Spirit of Ryujin but Young landed behind him and smashed him with the Man-Machine Interface discus lariat that turned Tatsugami inside out.
Young shot Tatsugami into the ropes and then went for a short arm lariat but Tatsugami ducked under it and took Young over with a Japanese Arm drag and then put her into the mat with a sling blade. Tatsugami then leaped into the air and came down hard on Young with the Cataclysm standing moonsault knee drop. The audience popped huge as they figured they were going to see a title change.
They were wrong.
Young kicked out at two and this seemed to light a fire under her ass. Young got to her feet and Tatsugami tried for a bicycle axe kick but Young evaded it and dropped him with the Stand Alone Complex elevated gutbuster. Tatsugami was down and a split second was all Young needed to climb to the top rope and hit the Battery Powered Bombshell corkscrew split legged moonsault. Young covered and got the three count.
Winner: Still Hybrid Champion, F.M. Young
•OUTSIDE THE ARENA•
Kara Scene and Tommy Kapstone are shown outside The Sanctum on the shore of Lake Ontario. Both members of Static Age look to be absolutely beside themselves.
“That was not indicative of who we are. That was embarrassing, that was fucking ridiculous.” Kapstone staid as he paced back and forth.
“That was an anomaly. That should not have happened. We need to change things.” Scene said.
Leland Morgan walked into frame, favouring his head. “Guys, I just wanted to say that I’m sorry. I know that I’ve let us down again and I want you to know that tonight was the last time.” Morgan said.
Kapstone flashed Scene a look and she nodded.
“You’re right.” Kapstone said.
Scene then jumped and smashed Morgan with the Rules of Attraction kick right to the back of the head. Morgan almost fell right on his face but Kapstone caught him and held him up. Kapstone grabbed Morgan by the face and smiled before he sent Morgan flying off of the edge of the pier and into Lake Ontario.
“Never again.” Kapstone said before he and Scene walked out of frame.
•TAG TEAM MATCH•
ALYSSA DANIELS & GABE SHELLEY vs. ENIGMA PROTOCOL w/ Isabella Villalobos
“The Heart of Infinity” Alyssa Daniels made her way to the ring first and The Sanctum came unglued for the former World Champion. “The marVel” Gabe Shelley was out next and he got a similar reaction. The mood shifted when Enigma Protocol came out onto the stage followed by Isabella Villalobos. Ryan Gates stomped to the ring with his eyes on Shelley while the World Champion Miguel Villalobos took his time.
The match began with Shelley and Gates. Gates charged Shelley and went for a shoulder block to drive Shelley into a corner but Shelley sidestepped him and sent Gates hard into the corner. Shelley called the crowd and that only served to infuriate Gates further.
“Gates is seething. He wants revenge on Shelley for Shelley costing him the World Championship. Shelley said that he has no issue with Gates, he was just a means to an end.” Balk said.
“Shelley has no business in Elysium. He should have stayed gone after he sent Finale packing.” Murphy said.
Gates rushed Shelley again and this time Shelley took him over with a deep arm drag. Gates tried to rally back but Shelley caught him with a t-bone suplex. Shelley then tagged in Daniels. Balk noted that both Daniels and Shelley are accomplished tag team wrestlers but Murphy countered with the fact that Enigma Protocol are the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in Elysium history.
Daniels climbed to the top rope and came off with a missile dropkick to Gates that sent him staggering back into the Protocol corner. Villalobos tagged himself in and then stood face to face with the person that he took the World Title from. The two locked up with Villalobos applying a headlock. Daniels backed Villalobos into the ropes and then shot him across the ring. Daniels put Villalobos on the mat with a sling blade.
“If Daniels can pin the new champion, she may earn herself a rematch.” Balk said.
“Yeah because a tag team win should earn someone a World Title match. Come on Textbook use your brain.” Murphy said.
“Watch yourself, boy.” Balk said.
Daniels tagged in Shelley and then ran to hit Gates off of the apron with a forearm smash. Gates landed on his feet so Daniels ran and hit a second rope moonsault onto Gates on the outside.
In the ring Shelley posed for the crowd before calling for the end. Shelley got Villalobos up and went for The reVolt but Villalobos slipped behind Shelley and hit him with a discus elbow smash to the back of the head. On the outside of the ring Gates caught Daniels with the Out of the Shadows superkick. Shelley was hung up on the top rope when Villalobos pulled him back and Diezmo de Sangre (Release German Suplex with a Kick). Shelley was down and Villalobos covered. 1..2..!
“That’s it--no!” Balk said.
Shelley got his foot on the bottom rope and the World Champion could not believe it. Villalobos got up and went for La Mordida Del Lobo (One-handed Electric Chair Driver) but Shelley shipped out of it and then hit Villalobos with Bright Lights!
“He made Finale tap with this move!” Balk reminded us.
Shelley wrenched back with all of his might but Gates entered the ring with a chair. Gates teed off and smashed Shelley in the back of the head with the chair, causing the referee to call for the bell.
Winners: Alyssa Daniels & Gabe Shelley via DQ
Following the bell Gates continued to wear Shelley out with the steel chair. Daniels entered the ring to try and help her partner but Villalobos caught her with La Mordida del Lobo (One-handed Electric Chair Driver)! Isabella entered the ring and handed her brother his World Championship and Enigma Protocol stood tall as Frontline went off of the air.
