The Dungeon at The Sanctum
Toronto, Ontario
∞BACKSTAGE∞
The show starts and we are shown “The Greatkeeper” Jake Archer entering the arena. He is immediately surprised by his protege Spectre. Spectre was dressed in a suit but upon closer inspection we see that Spectre’s suit is made out of a material featuring Archer’s face and the Iron Title in a repeating pattern.
Spectre approached his mentor and told him that he had a good feeling about the night, that Archer would finally lay claim to the Iron Championship. Archer went to speak but Spectre cut him off and said that he could feel it, that tonight Archer finally would get what he was owed. Spectre said that he had all the faith in the world in The Greatkeeper and that he had hidden some special items under the ring to help Archer takedown Walsh.
Archer went to speak again but Spectre’s cell phone rang. Spectre said he had to take it, that it was in regards to the celebration party later. Spectre gave his mentor an excited pat on the back and then walked out of frame and left Archer looking somewhat apprehensive.
∞SINGLES MATCH∞
DANNY HALL vs. YUUTO TATSUGAMI
The match began with “The Obsession” Danny Hall talking some serious trash to “The Dragon Lord” Yuuto Tatsugami. Tatsugami offered his customary handshake and Hall just laughed in his face before kicking Tatsugami’s hand away. Tatsugami’s expression didn’t change but he responded by hitting Hall with a shoot kick right to Hall’s chest that dropped Hall.
Hall powdered to the outside and Balk noted that Hall was likely still angry about losing to Zafar Khan last week and that Khan got a Hybrid Championship match because of the win. Tatsugami went out to the apron and Hall rushed him but Tatsugami kicked Hall right in the face. Hall dropped and Tatsugami went for a double stomp from the apron but Hall moved out of the way.
“Looks like Dragon Ball tweaked his knee on that one.” Murphy said.
Tatsugami got back to his feet but Hall took him down with a chop block. Hall got Tatsugami up and lifted him up for a brainbuster but dropped The Dragon Lord head first onto the apron. Hall rolled Tatsugami into the ring and scrambled for a pin but Tatsugami was able to kick out.
Hall mocked The Dragon Lord for a brief moment and that was all the time that Tatsugami needed. Tatsugami got up and rang Hall’s bell with a roundhouse kick to the head and Tatsugami took Hall over with a Northern Lights suplex pin. Tatsugami got a two count before Hall kicked out.
Tatsugami attempted the Spirit of Ryujin (Snap Dragon Suplex) but Hall flipped completely over and landed behind Tatsugami. Hall took him down with a chop block that dropped Tatsugami to a knee. Hall hit the Lovesick Harmony (Superkick to the back of the head). Hall covered and got the three count.
Winner: Danny Hall
After the bell Hall took the microphone and said that he just beat the guy who challenged for the Hybrid Title last week so that has to mean something. He’ll said that he would be at Frontline to watch the imposter Zafar Khan blow his opportunity.
∞BACKSTAGE∞
Cut to Cassie Sykes, seemingly still beaming with pride because of her work on the last episode of Glitches. Sykes seemed to be en route get to her bout with Ashley Cross. the younger of the Cross sisters. The camera gets jostled when Sykes is bum rushed by a fuming Lena Skye, still angry about what had happened on the last episode of Glitches. Skye showed signs of last week’s attack through KT tape along her shoulder and back. Sykes was sent into the wall before a flurry of punches and kicks rained down on her care of Skye. Skye then sent Sykes head first into the opposing wall and Sykes crumbled in a heap.
“Don’t grab the bull by the fucking horns. It’ll grab you right back.” Skye said.
Skye started to walk off as a downed Sykes writhed in pain.
∞BACKSTAGE∞
The shot starts showing the hulking mass of humanity that is Eschaton and he is standing with two security guards. It seemed that we were just coming in at the end of the conversation as both security guards nodded and walked out of frame. Just then Atropos walked by, on her way to the gorilla position.
Eschaton and Atropos exchanged a look and Eschaton wished her well in her match coming up. Atropos said that she didn’t need it and Eschaton smirked, saying “No I suppose not.” before Atropos carried on her way.
∞SINGLES MATCH∞
ATROPOS vs. CARTER WILLIAMS
“Fate’s Chosen One” Atropos came to the ring to next followed by her opponent “Kodiak” Carter Williams. The fact that Fate put Kodiak in front of Atropos kind of sucked for her. The bell rang and Kodiak looked ready to rip Atropos in half. Williams charged her but Atropos ducked under a lariat and smashed him in the back with a high impact dropsault.
Kodiak scrambled back to his feet and went for a running knee lift but Atropos leaped up and took him over with a hurricanranna. Williams found himself draped neck first over the top rope. Atropos ran and jumped over the top rope to the outside but she caught the back of Kodiak’s head on the way down and caught him with a guillotine.
Kodiak found himself on his back on the mat and as he got back to his feet Atropos got up on the apron and shot into the ring with a springboard moonsault, however, Kodiak caught her over his shoulder and then nearly drove her through the ring with a running powerslam.
“Do you hear that Textbook? That is the sound of the tide turning.” Murphy said.
“I thought you broke wind.” Balk countered.
Atropos tried to rally back but Kodiak met her with a lariat that turned her inside out, landing on her stomach. Kodiak grabbed Atropos by the back the hair and then repeatedly smashed her face into the mat. Kodiak lifted Atropos up by the hair and got her up to her feet. Kodiak wrenched back and went for a lariat but at the last second Atropos leaped up and took Kodiak down with a flying armbar. Two security guards snuck up beside the ring and each took hold of Kodiak’s feet.
“I recognize those two! Eschaton was speaking to them!” Murphy said.
“Great job Detective.” Balk said.
Atropos wrenched back with all of her might and Kodiak tried to use his legs to push out of it but he couldn’t move. The referee saw that Kodiak’s shoulders were down and he counted the three.
Winner: Atropos
Atropos released the hold and celebrated her win. Kodiak immediately got back up and turned his attention to the security guards on the outside. The two security guards ran up the ramp and Kodiak chased after them with murder on his mind.
∞INTERVIEW∞
The Penny Dreadfuls stood in the interview area with Kristie Steele. Steele mentioned that since coming to Elysium The Dreadfuls had yet to record a victory. Helena Handbasket stepped forward to speak but Jackie Naught stopped her. Riley Rouse looked displeased as Jackie Naught said that tonight would start a new chapter for The Dreadfuls and she would win this match...alone if she had to.
∞SINGLES MATCH∞
ESCHATON vs. LANDON CARTER
“This is what Landon Carter needs to do. He needs to hit and run.” Balk said.
“Or just run.” Murphy added.
Carter went for a standing kimura but Eschaton grabbed him by the back of the neck and sent Carter face first into the top turnbuckle about a half dozen times. Eschaton then pulled him back, grabbed Carter by the throat and lifted him up for a chokeslam. Eschaton brought Carter down with a chokebreaker onto his knee. Eschaton covered for two count.
Eschaton mounted Carter and smashed him in the face with some heavy forearms to the face, opening up Carter’s forehead. Eschaton let Carter get up and charged him, hitting the Revelations yakuza kick that dropped Carter.
“Carter had a great debut but this may be too much for him.” Balk said.
“Obviously. Eschaton is The End of All Things. Maybe Carter’s career.” Murphy said.
The camera got a close up shot of Carter’s face, wearing the crimson mask. Something changed in his expression. Carter pulled himself up using the ropes and Eschaton stood before him, a literal mountain. Eschaton gestured for Carter to come at him and Carter obliged.
Carter charged Eschaton and was too fast for the big man, he hit him with a running knee to the mid-section and then caught him with a big uppercut that sent Eschaton staggering back. Carter ran up and nailed Eschaton with a superman punch and then backed up before hitting Greetings From Kings County (Running Knee to the Face). Eschaton dropped and Carter covered for two.
Carter tried to set Eschaton up for the Bankrupt (Lifting DDT) but Eschaton fought out and hit Carter with a series of big headbutts, getting Carter’s blood on his own face. Eschaton then lifted Carter up and dropped him with a burning hammer. Before Eschaton could cover his attention was drawn to the stage.
“Oh this is bad.” Balk said.
On the stage Carter Williams appeared dragging the bloodied security guards, one in each hand. Kodiak pointed at Eschaton and then lifted one of the security guards up and dropped him on the other with the Dead Lift Drop (Spinning Side Slam). From behind Carter (the one in the ring) caught Eschaton with a double leg takedown from behind and then stacked him up, using the ropes for leverage to get the quick three count.
Winner: Landon Carter
Carter quickly rolled out of the ring as Kodiak stomped down the ramp. Kodiak entered the ring and quickly came to blows with Eschaton. Other security guards flooded the ring but Kodiak and Eschaton easily started tossing them over the top rope, one after another, while trying to get to one another. Before they could make contact Volkov came out onto the ramp.
“Enough of this. Volkov loves violence as much as the next person but you are disrupting his show much more than he would like. If you two giants want to fight then you will do so at Parts Unknown.” Volkov said, “Volkov wants to see you two destroy each other so the match will be a Last Man Standing match. If either of you touch the other before then you will not like the consequences.”
∞BACKSTAGE∞
Spectre is walking backstage in his Iron Archer suit holding balloons in one hand and a cake in the other. A close up shot of the cake showed a cartoon Jake Archer with an oversized Iron Title over his shoulder. Spectre looked as happy as could be until the Iron Champion, “The Nightmare King” Lio Walsh walked into frame.
“This seems a little...premature.” Walsh said, “You wouldn’t want to jinx him. A lot of bad luck going around.”
Spectre looked concerned for a moment but before he could act Walsh smashed him in the face with the Iron Championship which dropped Spectre onto his stomach, dropping the cake in front of him. Walsh then grabbed Spectre by the hair, “Have your cake.” Walsh said before smashing Spectre’s face into it.
Walsh gave Spectre a few quick kicks to the ribs before walking off, leaving Spectre face down in cake but he never let go of the balloons.
∞LOCKER ROOM∞
The show cut backstage to a locker room, where Camille Harrington and Peaches were both standing facing each other. Both were dressed in their ring attire ahead of their triads match, but the two former opponents seemed to be on better terms this week.
“So we’re on the same page tonight?” Peaches asked, gesturing between the two women with her hands as she does so. “I respect you, an’ you respect me.”
“Same page. I respect the hell out of you. You gave a good fight last week. Lasted longer than most who I’ve put in the Chi-raq Clench.” Camille replied.
“Mama ain’t raise no quitter,” Peaches jokes. “Now we’ve just gotta focus on the Penny Dreadfuls.”
“Yes, we do. I’m confident of our ability, just not totally sure of our other partner. She seems, a bit too hyper.”
Suddenly, the locker room door swung open and Akemi Hayashi entered. Almost immediately she gave Peaches a big hug, squeezing the Georgia native tightly. Then came Camille’s turn - but no luck! Harrington put up a hand to stop Kemi in her tracks. A slight pout drew across the face of the tall woman. It took only a second for her to get over the rejection.
“Hi! Kemi heard she is teaming with you. The energy is pleasant, that tells her we will win!”
Dagger’s voice and mannerisms radiated excitement. Probably a little too much excitement over the concept of teaming with complete strangers. Maybe she just enjoys meeting new people?
“So, uh,” Peaches murmured as she looked between her two tag partners for the evening, “anybody else think we’re just a li’l bit...y’all think this team’s a bit odd?”
The question only brang a shrug out of Akemi. Following with an answer that most likely explainsednothing.
“She just drifts along the cosmic ripple.”
“Sure, sure,” a confused Peaches nodded in agreement, “what about you, Camille?”
Camille gave Akemi a look and shook her head. “Yeah, odd, but we will still get the job done tonight.” She roughly patted both of her partners on the back.
•TRIAD MATCH•
AKEMI HAYASHI, CAMILLE HARRINGTON, & PEACHES
vs.
THE PENNY DREADFULS
The match started with Number One Contender to the Iron Title “The Chi-Town Striker” Camille Harrington starting the match against Riley Rouse. The two locked up and Harrington took Rouse down with a head lock takeover. Rouse caught Harrington with a grounded head scissors. Harrington kipped up and then caught Rouse with a spinning elbow smash to the mush.
“Camille Harrington can not afford a loss tonight. All signs point toward her getting her title shot at Parts Unknown. Whether it be Jake Archer or Lio Walsh, she needs momentum.” Balk said.
Rouse is staggered back to her corner and Jackie Naught went for the tag but Helena Handbasket beat her to the punch. Handbasket dodged an elbow strike from Harrington and caught her with a superkick. Harrington fell back into a corner and Handbasket nailed her with the Chaos Box (Running Knee) to the face. Harrington fell through the outside to the ropes.
“Under lucha rules, any member of Harrington’s team can come in.” Balk said.
“Are you going to state that rule every week.” Murphy said.
“Yes.” Balk said.
Peaches hit a springboard hip attack on Handbasket, taking her down. Peaches then hit a springboard moonsault and covered for a two count. Both got back up and Peaches went for a hurricanranna but Handbasket blocked it and tried for a powerbomb. Peaches reversed it and drove Handbasket face first into the mat with a facebuster. Handbasket rolled out and Naught entered.
“Naught promised a victory tonight. Let us see what she brings to the table.” Balk said.
Naught entered the ring and caught Peaches with a running palm strike that turned her inside out. Harrington got back in the ring and Naught fed her a running high knee to the face. Naught then strung Harrington up and dropped her with a pump handle slam.
“Seems like Naught is bringing the pain.” Murphy said. “About time!”
Harrington rolled out and Naught turned her attention to Akemi Hayashi on the apron. Hayashi was more than happy to enter the ring. Dagger charged Naught and was faster, hitting Naught with a leg lariat that sent Naught to the outside. This brought Rouse into the ring but again Hayashi was faster, she nailed Rouse with the Third Eye Closer (A feigned clothesline leading to a back elbow). Harrington and Peaches handled Handbasket and Naught on the outside as Hayashi pulled Rouse in and dropped her with Starflower (Twist of Fate). Hayashi covered and got the three count.
Winners: Akemi Hayashi, Camille Harrington, & Peaches
After the bell the camera focussed on Jackie Naught and she was beside herself. Naught tossed up her hands and left The Penny Dreadfuls at ringside as the winning triad celebrated in the ring.
∞VOLKOV’S DEN∞
“Volkov just does not understand. Zafar Khan is a disrespectful child. One that has not earned nothing in this Elysium. Volkov does not know what Ramona is thinking.” Volkov said.
“She saw money in the kid. It’s quite likely that he will fail. The people like him and that will draw ratings. That’s why he got the shot. When F.M. Young destroys him he will no longer be a problem for you, she seems liable to murder him. Your irrational hatred for him will be satiated tomorrow night.” Thomas replied.
“Is not irrational. This boy disrespected Volkov and Volkov will not stand for it. Should Volkov’s old partner not get the job done tomorrow, should she not humble him...Volkov will find someone who can.” Volkov said.
“You tried that with Hall. It didn’t work.” Thomas said.
“Perhaps the circumstances were not proper. Volkov will not make that mistake again.” Volkov replied and the scene ended on his stone cold expression.
IRON CHAMPIONSHIP
∞SINGLES MATCH∞
JAKE ARCHER vs. LIO WALSH ©
Main event time and the challenger was out first. “The Greatkeeper” Jake Archer came to the ring and his usual happy-go-lucky demeanor was not present. Archer looked focussed, Archer looked mad. The Iron Champion, “The Nightmare King” Lio Walsh was out next but as soon as he got ringside Archer came flying over the top rope and took Walsh down. The referee called for the bell.
Archer whipped Walsh face first into the ring post and when Walsh staggered backward Archer caught him with a superkick to the back of the head that sent Walsh into the ring post again. Archer slid Walsh back into the ring and then hit a springboard elbow drop. Instead of covering, Archer mounted Walsh and started mercilessly laying into him with rights and lefts.
“We have never seen Jake Archer like this. Lio Walsh may have opened a door that he was not prepared to walk through.” Balk said.
“I’m a Jake Archer fan but I don’t like this attitude. He’s not championship material, he’s a hype man.” Murphy said.
Archer climbed to the top rope and waited for Walsh to rise, when Walsh did Archer came off with a double axe handle. Archer shot into the ropes and came off with SuperSlap (A springboard bitch slap). The audience in Toronto was oddly behind Archer and he took a moment to take that in. For the first time, a positive reaction from the crowd. He did not seem to hate it.
Walsh slipped out of the ring and when Archer went to continue his offense, he couldn’t find the champion. Archer approached a side of the ring and Walsh blasted him with a steel chair. Walsh came into the ring with the chair and blasted Archer one more time. Walsh then set up the chair and dropped Archer head first onto the seat with Reign Over (Double Underhook DDT). Walsh covered for a quick two.
“See Jake! Don’t play to the audience! It doesn’t help!” Murphy said.
The Nightmare King pulled a pair of brass knuckles out of his tights and then started relentlessly punching Archer in the face. Archer bucked Walsh off and then rolled to the outside. Walsh looked under the apron for something, anything to help him. He pulled out an interesting object.
“Is that a porcelain...goat?” Murphy said.
Walsh exited the ring and Archer tossed the porcelain goat at him but Walsh evaded it and caught Archer in a fireman’s carry. Walsh then ran and tossed Archer into the guardrail with a modified death valley driver. Walsh then went under the ring and pulled out a large glass framed photo.
“A framed photo of Jake Archer. Spectre really is Archer’s biggest fan.” Balk said.
Walsh looked disgusted as he held up the photo. He then approached Archer and smashed the photo over Archer’s head which opened up Archer’s forehead, glass flying everywhere. Archer staggered back but in a desperation move he tossed a superkick through the frame that caught Walsh right on the chin. Both men dropped.
Both men climbed back into the ring and Archer begged for Walsh to get up, blood running down Archer’s face. Walsh obliged and swung on Archer but Archer evaded it and nailed Walsh with Surprise! (Frontflip Cutter rolled back into a Dragon Sleeper). Archer couldn’t hold the move, Walsh slipped out of it and planted him with Made of Nightmares onto the mangled steel chair. Walsh covered.
Winner: Still Iron Champion, “The Nightmare King” Lio Walsh
Walsh collected his championship and then pushed Archer out of the ring with his feet. Walsh held the championship high while the audience booed the shit out of him.
The boos turned to cheers when “Spitfire” cued up and “The Chi-Town Striker” Camille Harrington came out onto the stage. Harrington just stood with her arms crossed and then turned her attention to the Parts Unknown advertisement hanging beside the entrance area.
Cut to Walsh and he held his title even higher, a cold expression on his face as Glitches came to a close.
