World Championship [Cage of Death Match] SHIDO vs. Erik Holland [c] The last time that these two faced off the match also involved Vitoly Volkov and it was a brutal affair, which saw Holland retain the championship. After SHIDO's brutal attack on Holland's partner Tiami Erickson at Frontline V Holland demanded this match with "The Edge of Reality", which was likely SHIDO's plan all along. It's Elysium's first ever Cage of Death. You can only win by pinfall or submission and within the confines of the cage there will be weapons hanging from the walls for both competitors to use. Our final show of the year will be headlined by what has the potential to be the most brutal match in Elysium thus far.
Deadline: Friday December 15th, 2017 at 11:59pm EST Limits: 2 Promos of 1000 Words Each [Maximum]

The cage is here now, SHIDO.
Fade in, and Erik Holland's atop the entryway sat cross-legged, with the Heavyweight title over his shoulder and across his chest like a barbarian's worn breastplate. Pretty fitting.
I've been locked in here since the match was announced.
The camera swings around and looks up at what Erik's been staring at, and it is indeed the Cage of Death in all it's horrible glory; waiting to drop down over two men on Frontline.
Not in a physical sense, but in the mind. I've always seen this cage, always been inside it.
Erik's got his leather entrance mask on, making his voice and his ragged breathing hollow. Evil-sounding.
I go here when I need to drop into dark places. HAUNTED places. Places that aren't healthy for me to go to on a whim, but when a job has to be done? When a wrong has to be righted? It's there. Always is...always.
A beat or two that seem like they last forever pass. The camera now focuses on Erik for the next little while, the shot being uncomfortably close so you have to deal with his presence. Just like he likes it.
Frontline, SHIDO, was a reckoning point for you. The point where maybe for you it stopped being about the World Championship and started being personal. What is it about me, about my Breed, that disgusts you as much as it seems to? All we have done, all we ever want to do, is make pro wrestling fun to watch and fun to be a part of again. Yeah, we look different, yeah, we ain't all aesthetically pleasing but you cannot deny that everywhere the Badd Breed goes, people follow. People watch and people love it. Sometimes, even I don't understand the phenomenon but I'm smart enough not to question it, is the difference..
For me, I had you figured out a loooong time ago my friend. As much as you might be wanting to make it personal, get me flying off the handle into a rage because you hurt Tiami...I'm not sure that was the best strategy. Tiami ain't any kind of shrinking daffodil. She's bled before, she's been beaten up before. Aint nothing new to her except somebody else to destroy. Except while she's recuperating she's asked me to destroy you on HER behalf, and I'm only too happy to oblige. Threatening the livelihood of my best friend, my partner in life and one of the charter members of my Badd Breed may well be one of the dumbest things you, in your infinite wisdom and mastery of psychology have ever done.
The shot goes back up to the cage now.
And I think that this cage, this cage I've been locked in inside my head is an appropriate battleground. In here there's no excuses. No handwaving away things that did or didn't happen. No Vitoly Volkov to blame your failures on. It's just you, steel, a lot of weapons, and one of the sickest and most dangerous men in pro wrestling staring across the ring at you.
I've been travelling, SHIDO, I've been busy. Before I took on the task of humbling you again I participated in a Plates of Glass match, a Taipei Deathmatch, and in a few days I'm going to Japan to fight somebody with syringes, razor blade tables, rubbing alcohol, scalpels..What I'm saying here is that a Cage of Death is about as routine and normal to me as coffee with Ti in the morning. This is the environment Erik Holland was born in, that I THRIVE in. Yeah, I can wrestle...I think THIS says that pretty damn well..
Back to that shot of Holland and Erik tap, tap, taps on the Heavyweight title, the sound making a dull CLOP every time.
But here..here is where my real genius and my creativity shines through. The steel, the weapons...All things I know backwards and frontwards. The total tonnage of the things I know how to do to punish a human body--yours OR mine--in an environment like this could stun an elephant. But I don't need to do anything like that, no stunning elephants. All I need to do to lower you back down here with the rest of us is beat you, SHIDO.
Canary caught. Was that SHIDO's plan? Not sure about that.
Probably surprised by that right? You're shocked, I'm sure that I don't want to take my time making you feel every stab of pain, every piece of that steel I'm going to bounce your flesh and bones off of again and again. I want to defeat you as quickly and as convincingly as possible so that there can BE no debate, there can BE no questions. I know, and have known, the one thing that would hurt you worse than anything I could possibly do to you in that steel cage is deny you the World Heavyweight Championship. AGAIN.
You've been screaming to the world that you deserve this and you deserve that. Yet you possess nothing. You rant to the world that you only now have become human as if you think that's going to drive you onward to what you think is your birthright. Abhijit Naskar once said "Human, YOU are--and your purpose is to live for others as much as you live for yourself."
Erik scoffs dismissively now.
You don't live for others, SHIDO, you don't work in service of others or to be subject to others. You've only ever been in service to and in subject to yourself. None of what you claim to be is human. All you'll ever be, like you were at Hallowed Ground and how you will be at the Cage of Death on Frontline... Is simply not good enough.
Fade.

The new world, the place where SHIDO ventured after abandoning his Paradise looked more of the part than the egocentric land he crafted for himself. No more statues that silently sung his praises or distortions to display the unrest in his mind. Vast layers of green, the occasional chirping of birds, and a beautiful blue sky that went on for as long as the eye could see. Not a cloud lingered in the air, letting all the warm sunlight inside. However, the massive oak tree fragmented the rays and played around with where the light eventually fell. Sitting under it dead center was SHIDO. A light breeze teased his red hair as he looked nonchalantly at the scenery. He sat in a meditative position, legs crossed over one another. He lifted his hand reaching into the air, and he closed his hand gently. When he opened it, a butterfly came fluttering out, which he watched with a gentle smile on his face.
“Holland, you might think that this is personal, but it isn’t.”
SHIDO’s voice once again showed a genuine calmness, teasing upon a sound that one uses with close friends.
“I don’t understand the concept of making things personal,” he stated, “it’s the idea that someone has driven you to the point of having to break past what’s commonly seen as acceptable. If I were to see myself as a godly figure, why would I attack your lover with the purpose of sending a message to you? If making it personal was the intention, do you think that Tiami would have been allowed to continue to send her mindless tweets towards me?”
He chuckled.
“Of course not, but I digress. I know that it’s your vision to see me as some evil entity, some malevolent force that will serve as your antagonist for the next show. I get that you’ve crafted this story for yourself, Holland, but allow me to reveal the most intriguing fact about this whole matter.”
“Holland, you’re not that important.”
There is a beat to let the words sink in.
“Let’s take a minute to talk about what it means to be human.”
“Holland, what I did to Tiami wasn’t some grand gesture to get you so angry that you’ll do anything to get back at me. It was a byproduct. Humanity was built upon the simple idea that we destroy one another. From wars that ravage the world to the back alley scuffles, humans are always set to hurt one another. We cover up this fact with the publicized donations or the self-important good deed here and there, but we’re fundamentally evil people. For you to say that I live for myself and only myself is exactly correct.”
“Why would I possibly live for anyone else?”
“When you live for other people, you offer to carry the weight of their problems, their tribulations, and their failures. Like you do for Tiami, Gile, and the rest of the Badd Breed. As the successful leader of a deadbeat group, you bleed their blood and scream their proclamations, but it all leads to the same thing. You get labeled a pariah, a charlatan, and ultimately, a loser. All because you want to delude yourself with the idea of comradery and family. To me, the Badd Breed is nothing but lost children. Erik, you’re the big brother in all of this, but you’ll end up making yourself weak. Then one day, everyone will turn on you. You have a good heart, Erik, but it’ll get you killed. Thus, you look at my selfish nature as a bad trait, the testament against my belief of being human.”
“I don’t have to prove what I am to you, Erik. I have the statistics to prove it that for me. Even if we scale everything I’m speaking of down to just professional wrestling, then you can see the many fallouts of ‘families’ like yours. Betrayals that come from the evil seeds wanting to get ahead,” SHIDO paused, smirking slightly to himself. A solitary distortion rippled throughout the entire green field.
“Everyone’s in service for themselves one way or another.”
“When you rid yourself of that notion of comradery, then you become so much stronger. When I decided to come back down to Earth and become human, you sealed your fate. When Finale made this cage match, I could see the gears in your head turning. You thought of every last thing you could do to me now that we’re in this cage. However, you’ve failed to see that everything has come together by my hand, and mine alone.”
“The human, SHIDO, has a different mindset than the God, the Edge of Reality,” SHIDO explained, squinting, “you were better off fighting him. He would have played around with you. He would have reveled in the things he did. The egotistical fool would have made himself an easy target for all your vengeful intentions. You step inside of that cage with me, Holland. I want the most valuable treasure in Elysium. I want the Elysium World Championship.”
“Taking your head is just a bonus.”
“I am all the world’s evils, Holland. I am every soldier in a war. I am every politician behind the veil. I am every murderer in the streets. I am the hungry that stopped caring what I have to do to get a bite to eat. I am the man with the shotgun with a reckless trigger finger and a million heads to shoot off.”
“I am a human being, capable of doing terrible things,” SHIDO repeated the mantra to himself. He stopped and looked down to his lap, a weary grin on his face. “There’s a quote that I remember now.”
“I’m not trapped in that cage with you, Holland.”
SHIDO gave the camera a final hard look.
“You’re trapped in there with me.”

Cold open, and Erik Holland's taping this on his cellphone. Mostly because he's in Japan currently participating in Kamikaze Pro's tag team league, then he will be making an appearance for Death Trip Wrestling. But this is the Elysium Pro Heavyweight Champion, with belt in tow, and he's got business to attend to as he stands out in a hotel hallway, away from the commotion his Badd Breed friends who have joined him on this tour are making.
Finale made this match? Musta' missed the part where I didn't just ask for this cage, this Cage of Death...I DEMANDED it. Go check out Aftershock if you don't believe me, SHIDO, I used small words and everything so you can follow along..
I demanded Cage of Death not out of a sense that I needed to be the knight in hardcore armor, riding to defend the honor of my goodly woman. Tiami's legitimately the toughest human being I've ever met in my life--counting you--and after you did that to her, she's already back on her feet and BEGGING me to let her tear you apart. I told her not one move. Not one move until I've done what I need to do.
I demanded this match because sometimes a lesson in humility has to be taught. Sometimes bad things have to happen to truly bad people. Yeah, I enjoy the fans' support. I enjoy the fact they cheer for me, cheer for my people, and believe in the Badd Breed's message. But that don't mean I wear a white hat, SHIDO, that don't mean I'm gonna' respond to what you've done to me and to Ti with a strongly worded letter.
An impudent look in Holland's eyes as he carries on into his phone, perhaps revelling in that fact.
It's been apparent to me from the beginning before your sanctimonious, self righteous sermons on the Mount about how terrible of a human being you are that all you've wanted at the end of this is the title wrapped around the only waist it's ever been around in it's history--MINE. I've known that. And I've known you would go to great lengths, even maybe beyond what you've already done just for a chance, a taste of this title.
Erik holds up the belt to the phone's camera with his free hand. He shoves it into the lens, daring SHIDO to "taste" it before he pulls it away.
A taste of this belt is all you get. If That. My one goal, my single minded objective on Frontline Nightfall is to defeat you. Not to cripple you, not to make you bleed, but to beat you. To retain the Heavyweight Championship of the World and force you to watch me hold it above my head, above YOUR head, SHIDO..and I know that will stick with you for the rest of your career. Because for all of your proclamations and declarations you STILL won't be able to best the guy who has given his heart, body and soul to stand on top of Elysium and isn't done kickin' ass yet.
If you're the soldier in the war, SHIDO, I'm the kid in the street with a brick and a knife. The kid with the mask over his face who might be out-gunned but refuses to drop to his knees and submit, because a man stands up. If you're the politician behind the veil, I'm the reporter with pen and pad ready to expose you to the world for the fraud you are because you're so used to doing things in the dark, you don't know what to do when someone shines blinding light on you.
Erik looks to his right, to his left. The eyes are wide, bulging; whether he is intense or whether he's giving into the fact that this man is deranged; no one can say.
There are terrible people, terrible things in the world, SHIDO; and you're one of them. No mistake about it. But for every terrible person, there's one good guy that stands up and says "I've had enough." That doesn't wanna play by the rules anymore, that wants to get down to your level and be as terrible to you as you are to the rest of the world, and ask you how that shit tastes while he drags you through it face first.
Sometimes bullies need to be kicked in the teeth. Sometimes soldiers need all that armor and all those weapons torn away to show the world how fragile they really are. Sometimes politicians need that veil yanked back to show the world a weak, knock-kneed insipid little man is the voice behind that curtain. And in the course of human events, when such a time arises? That's when a guy like me shows up. That's when a champion shows up. And thats who will show up to the cage in Denver, SHIDO. Not simply a human being, not simply a leader of men and women.
The belt gets raised again. Defiantly. Like he's forcing it into his challenger's "face", forcing SHIDO to deal with it, to deal with him.
A champion. Who will REMAIN champion. And YOU will remain raging into the void, demanding your due praise and boot-licking from all within the sound of your voice but it will never...ever...come. You'll never have peace because you'll never feed that desire for attention and praise and gratitude from the very souls you claim to hate and want to destroy. You will NEVER get what you want. You will NEVER have the World Championship. And I hope someday soon, you can live with that.
And a cold, quick cut out.

When the feed started, the setting wasn’t some atmospheric, fantasy realm. The green plains with the enormous oak tree nor the environment full of statues catering to SHIDO’s ego. In fact, the world that SHIDO resided in was the same as everyone else’s, Earth. The camera walked through a dimly lit corridor with several doors lining the walls. People in white clothing moved out of the way of the camera operator’s path, letting him into one of the doors. Faintly, a new sound picked up over the microphone before catching SHIDO sitting down beside to someone. The sound was a heart monitor. SHIDO wore a typical black suit, fashioned up until the black tie, which he tightened only a tad. As the camera rounded behind, the person he was visiting came into the picture. Lying there with a bouquet of roses on her lap, a gift from SHIDO, Tiami Erickson couldn’t possibly know who sat before her. Her breathing was calm, yet the damage that SHIDO dealt with her a short while ago remained. SHIDO remained quiet, solemn even. This video wasn't from present day. DECEMBER 4TH, 2017 “The human mind can still perceive things around it, even in an unconscious state. You can hear me somewhere in there, and I know you want to wake up and claw for my throat. I know you want to deal back every degree of damage that I did to you, but you can’t. You wouldn’t be able to even if you could get out of that bed right now; we've proved this in our match. Since you’re sitting here and so eager to listen to me, I’ll relay to you the reasons why I hurt you the way I did."“I told you that I needed to show the world what it meant to be human. I needed to remind everyone how vicious a human can be when they forget their morals and release themselves from those inhibitions. When a human does that, they become the monster in the horror movie. They become the thing that Man fears most,” SHIDO gulped down something, “they become stronger than them.”
“You see, Man fears only something they can’t defeat. They’ll bring up every defense, vocal or mental, to protect the most important thing, their emotions. Because once the monster sees the fear on someone’s face, they can rip their throat out without a single doubt in their mind. For your lover, for Holland, I needed to express this in a different way--the only way he understands. I needed to push that pressure point, and I needed to push it right off the edge.”“The edge of a stage into the rubble below and leave that ‘point’ lying in a hospital bed,” SHIDO made a motion to Tiami’s unconscious state. “You played your role perfectly,” a vagrant chuckle, “you were the helpless victim. I manufactured a narrative for this match that makes anything that Erik does pointless. For me to hurt you is to make the villain out of myself, the one that needs the hero needs to defeat. I needed to brought to justice by him and for you to spring into his arms at the end. It’s what humans like. They love the happy ending, despite not knowing how hypocritical it is.”
“Justice is a concept that's beyond idiotic,” SHIDO spat, “because it’s more egotistical than I ever could be. I’m evil, and Holland’s good, but that’s because it’s believed by the people that have never known struggle or pain. They don’t recall the winner writes history; they get to rewrite the definition of what’s right and wrong. When truthfully, my values come from a world of constant misery and agony that Holland will never understand. If he did, he wouldn't try to get his vengeance.”
“As such, he has made this easier for me to win at Nightfall. In our last match, I made the mistake of not playing the game that I want to play. I let him set the stakes. I let him drive me to an immature anger that he took advantage of. While I was busy trying to unleash all my anger on him, he never forgot the master plan. He stole the match from me because he played me for a fool. He got me upset, and he blinded me with his stupidity. This time, though, I made the reverse. Using you as a tool, a means to a certain end, allowed me to sculpt this match into what I wanted. You’ll wake up soon, and you’ll continue to play your part. You’ll be scornful. You’ll try your hardest to get swift justice, just like Holland. By the end of the night, you’ll have to wallow in your grief as you see me walk out as the new Elysium Heavyweight Champion.”
“Excuse me; I don’t think I’ve introduced myself formally.”SHIDO took a moment to weave his fingers through his red hair. “My name is Seol Ha-neul. My name means sky. Pretty, don’t you think?”
“I don’t make the same mistakes that SHIDO does. I’m afraid that your man will not get the chance even to survive me. For I know, he’ll go to extreme lengths to get back at me. However, he fails to understand what it means to be a warrior. He throws up his championship, flaunts you around, and he doesn’t expect for something like this to happen?”
Ha-neul stood from his seat and moved closer to Tiami. He messed with her hair, tucking a rose inside of her bright red locks. “People wonder why I want the championship so badly.”
He paused, looking out the window to the brisk rain. “Because I want to show Holland and the world the real laws of the world.”
“The true nature of Elysium.”
