Hybrid Championship [Singles Match] Elina Cartel vs. K-Remix (c)
K-Remix avoided the curse. The first two Hybrid Champions were unable to successfully defend the title but K-Remix did just that when he turned away challenger Adam Stryker. Now he must attempt to do the same against the first Hybrid Champion ever, Elina Cartel. Cartel lost the championship in her first defence and took a leave from Elysium right after that match. She returned at the end of 2017 and won her first match back at the last Frontline. Now Cartel gets the opportunity to win back the Hybrid Championship and prove that she should have never lost it in the first place. However K-Remix is has one of the best win/loss records in the company and is showing no signs of slowing down. This match could quite possibly steal the show.
Deadline: Friday January 26th, 2018 at 11:59pm EST Limits: 2 Promos of 1000 Words Each [Maximum]

“K-Remix spoke on the subject of his abuse at the hands of his father in a recent promotional video-I found it to be fascinating. He spoke on this idea that his father ‘beat his ass’ and apparently this abuse prepared him for professional wrestling. Was this a boast? Or was it a cry for help? Perhaps the abuse suffered by K-Remix at the hands of his father somehow drove him to become who he is to day, but I’m unsure whether this a good or bad thing. I believe this begs further investigation...”The scene opens with a man shoving the door of a bedroom open. When light pours through the doorway and exposes the walls, you can see wrestling posters and once the door slams up against the wall, the light reveals a boy in bed. The man growls, “Wake up boy. It’s time for another lesson.” “When I was given this match against K-Remix, it came with a misconception. The misconception was my own--I had the expectation that I would be facing a ‘K-Remix’ different from the one I beat at Ascent. Then, he was a self-centered and egotistical caricature of a millenial-man-child. He had the hair, the look, and the words of the vapid and redundant fashion statement he represented. I am willing to admit to my own failings in the fact that I had the expectation that K-Remix had the ability to grow, change, and become better. This expectation couldn’t have been further from the truth. He is completely static--unchanging. Yet, with the realization that he suffered abuse at a young age, it becomes clear why he has not matured beyond that of a young boy. Heartbreaking.”There is a sharp whimper as the boy sits up in bed. “Dad, no. I didn’t do anything wrong.” Before the boy can say another word, the much larger and older man, revealed to be the boy’s father, steps through the door, pulls the blankets off the bed, and pulls the boy up by his throat and in one swift movement, spins around and pins the boy up against the wall. “Of course you didn’t, boy.” The boy struggles, but his father slaps him in the face and forces him back against the wall. “This is for your own good. This is the school of hard knocks. This will prepare you for the world.” Tears stream down the boy’s cheeks. “Quit being so weak!” The man roars, before sending the boy flying across the room. The boy impacts the wall, pushing in the drywall before he lands on the ground with a hard thud. “Regardless of a mind still dealing with years of abuse, K-Remix is not without the ability to pay attention. He spelled out, rather well, the true case of Ryleigh Mathis’ Hybrid Championship reign. She was as unfit a champion as I was unfit to defend the championship against her, to begin with. Ryleigh was indeed, a ‘stop gap’, but ultimately, if I were K-Remix, I would not claim the victory against Mathis as anything to boast about. Like he said, he was the champion and she was merely holding the title for him at the time.”The father stalks over to the boy and pulls him back to his feet and slings him onto the bed. “This is for your own good, boy. This will make you a man.” The boy knows his father’s words are merely a disguise for the abuse he’s endured, but part of him wants to believe it. Part of him yearns to finally be broken, to finally meet his father’s expectations. “My championship reign was interrupted by fate and it will serve as a permanent blemish on my record. Ryleigh Mathis deserves to be in my sights, but as we have already seen, she was incapable of holding onto the Championship long enough for my inevitable return. Now I look on at K-Remix, who wears this same smirk I saw stretched across Tiami Erickson’s face. A smirk of entitlement and arrogance. A smirk worn by one completely unaware of the storm incoming. Like a climate change denier, K Remix is about to see that regardless of whether or not you believe the storm is coming is irrelevant--the storm will swallow you, all the same. Still, the glow is gone, as I realize I am facing a victim.”The father sits down on the bed and pulls the boy onto his lap and extends his arm and lands a heavy spank to the boy’s backside. “You’re weak. You’re trivial. Everyone knows it. You’re an embarrassment to this family.” The boy chokes out, “I’m sorry dad!” The father lands another heavy open hand spank. “You’ll be a third generation professional athlete!” Spank!“You’ll be a second generation professional wrestler!” Spank!“I will not allow you to embarrass this family!” Spank!“Then again, the victim victimizes us all with his use of the insipid term, ‘swag’. Since 2010, or so, the term it became shorthand for ‘swagger’ and soon proved to be anything but. ‘Swagger’ was enjoyed by many because it simply meant to carry one’s self in an aggressive and egotistical way-like his Father. The short hand ‘swag’ is much the same, but the term used by a male who is castrated, yet still wants to appear ‘aggressive’ and ‘egotistical’-like K-Remix, the son. ‘Swag’ is a term which simply needs to die, it has become a joke. Yet, here is K-Remix, still clinging to this term years after it wore out its welcome-much like K-Remix has worn out his welcome in the Hybrid Championship picture. I have returned to rip my championship from your vacuous clutches.”The father shoves the boy to the ground and leaves the room, slamming the door behind him. The boy sobs on the ground and sobs hard. Blood. Sweat. Swag. Denial.

The big thing I had to deal with last week was the Hybrid Title curse. However, that is nothing compared to the events that followed Frontline. As a matter of fact if you look at the big picture you might even say that Elysium is cursed as a whole. You had the unfortunate situation surrounding Sarah Lacklan. Then you had the disappearance of Kelly Godless. Not long after that you had the passing of Seth Gile. Now you have what many consider the biggest blow of them all. On January 15th, 2018. We lost Kevin Moss in a plane crash. On their own any of those tragedies is hard to digest. Put them all together and… It leaves a guy who always has something to say at a loss for words. So, I’m just going to sum it up like this. Shout out to Sarah Lacklan if you’re watching. Same with Kelly Godless. I still appreciate being given a shot and I hope that you’re okay. Rest in peace once again Seth Gile. Last but certainly not least rest in peace Kevin Moss.
Moss you were talented and everybody could see that. I was looking forward to getting another shot at taking you down. However, I suppose I’ll have to settle for trying to help fill the gaping hole that losing you left in the Elysium roster. That's how I feel we should honor Kevin Moss. He left big shoes to fill and we as a federation have to fill them. Finale is thinking about what to do in order to honor him. That could end up with him naming a title after him. Holding a tournament in his memory. Or something that I haven’t even thought of. However, at the end of the day the key is keeping this place going without a hitch. Just like we did when Lacklan was taken from us. Just like we did when Godless was taken from us. And just like we did when Gile was taken from us. Make no mistake, Kevin Moss’ memory will live on through every person who watched him wrestle. And every person that he interacted with. Both wrestlers and fans alike. However if we have a show, tournament, or title named in his honor? New fans in the future tuning into Elysium for the first time? They’re going to see his name. They’re going to wonder who Kevin Moss was. Then they’re going to look him up and see how good he was. I can’t think of a better way to honor him than that. For that to happen though, we need to do what always do. We have to keep showing why this is one of the best federations in the world.
Now as hard as it is to change gears after that. It is time to change gears. So, don’t stop me if you've heard this one because you’re about to hear it again. Last week I became the FIRST person to successfully defend the Elysium Hybrid Championship. Let that sink in for a moment. Let it marinate in your brain. None of the other people who held the belt were able to keep it. The Hybrid Championship was changing hands more than Mega Man until I stepped in and changed that. Not Ryleigh Mathis, not Elina Cartel, K-REMIX! So, Elina for you to sit there on Twitter and say that I’m a lesser competitor is nothing short of pure unbridled ego. You know, the same kind of thing you accused me of. The same kind of thing that you said would be my undoing. Oh but I guess that sort of thing only applies to my perceived ego and not your blatant ego huh? That’s convenient. Oh and when I say perceived ego. Would you all like to know what prompted Elina to say that my ego would be my undoing? It was me proclaiming that I’d defend my title successfully against her. So, I suppose going into a match gunning for victory counts as ego now? Did I miss the memo on this? Are we all supposed to go into a match expecting to lose? Well if that’s the case then I suppose my ego is out of control. And you know what, it’s going to stay that way.
Let me circle back though because that lesser competitor comment needs to be addressed. It's a fact that Elina Cartel won a match against me in ASCENT. When you order something that says it’ll arrive in four to seven business days and it takes seven? Elina may be the personification of that. However, I can say that she does have talent. And Elina in spite of what you might believe. That loss sparked a lot of change in my career. I might not be where I am right now without it. Nor would I be here if I wasn’t as resilient as I am. So, Elina let me put it to you like this. Ashe Corvin took it to you the same way he took it to me. Oh wait a second, NO HE DIDN'T! If you really want to get down to the nitty gritty of the situation. That bastard tried to put me out of Elysium on multiple occasions. Did he? Nope. It actually got to the point where I was treating him like a minor annoyance. Shooing him away like a pet who was misbehaving. Which makes sense because he does resemble Rufus from Kim Possible. But anyway, I ignored seeking revenge on him so that I could focus on challenging for the Hybrid Championship. Meanwhile, he has one match with you and your career comes to a screeching halt because of it. Yet I’m a lesser competitor? Tough talk coming from a chick who couldn't survive a fraction of what he put me through.

Once again we step into the Elysian fields. The afterlife, where mortal go to meet the gods. I’ve always been taken by Greek mythology and at times I find myself comparing those around me to those finely crafted characters which represent all of mankind’s strengths and weaknesses. When I look at my opponent, K-Remix, for example, I see Narcissus.
Narcissus was the son of the nymph Liriope and the river god Cephissus. Narcissus, despite the blood of a god running through his veins, was mortal. Yet, thanks to his breeding, he was blessed with a beauty beyond that of any other mortal. Narcissus was so beautiful, in fact, that nearly every women who crossed his path, loved him. One could argue that Narcissus had the same ‘swag’ we’re always hearing K-Remix refer to.
Yet, when confronted by these suitors, he shunned them all.
Narcissus was a hunter; a competent one, not unlike our current Hybrid Champion. Eventually came an afternoon where Narcissus found himself hunting in the deep woods when he felt as if he were being watched. He was, by the nymph Echo. She watched him for some time before leaping out to hug him. Narcissus pushed her away, like K-Remix has pushed away so many peers.
Echo stricken by rejection, would roam the woods for the rest of her life before eventually deteriorating, leaving only her echo as evidence that she had ever existed.
Narcissus moved forward, undaunted, but was unaware that Nemsis had heard of what he had done. Nemesis, the goddess of revenge looked upon Narcissus much the same way I look upon K-Remix--with fiery eyes. Nemesis knew, like I know now, that he had to be punished. She led him to river and lured him into gazing upon his own reflection.
Narcissus was captivated. He fell in love with who he saw before him. Like K Remix, he became so entangled with is own beauty and hubris that he couldn’t see the world around him. Narcissus saw only himself, but when he realized it was merely his reflection, he realized that his true love could never be attainable.
Narcissus became so dejected that he found himself left with one choice - he committed suicide. An act K-Remix will recreate in the middle of the ring at Cataclysm, when he realizes his hubris is not a shield. “I’m going to speak to you directly, K-Remix. You’ve made the assumption that there is a curse upon Elysium. While I would enjoy agreeing with you and contending that you too, are cursed, I cannot condone your ignorance. Curses aren’t real; only a desperate man calls it a ‘curse’ when he has no other answers to grasp at.”
“Yes, the loss of Kevin Moss is tragic. Moss and I only crosses paths once, but he was a good man. But to say he was cursed is flippant and disrespectful. He was someone you should have learned from, yet instead, you ignored his skills as a significant critical thinker. If only you had stopped for a moment and peered through your own haze of insecurity and seen Moss for who he really was, perhaps you would have left that match a ‘double champion’ as you so hoped.”
“Instead, you call it a curse and do an ‘about face’ on the subject of Moss when it becomes clear that a step in any other direction would be disrespectful. You show your true colors, K-Remix. You are not this innovative ‘king of swag’ you constantly declare yourself. You are but another follower. Without direction, you would indeed be ‘cursed’, cursed to wander this landscape without means or an end game.”
“To communicate with an egotist, you must become the egotist. This is the only language you can understand. I triggered you, admit it. I took a ‘page out of your book’ and showed you what it looked like when someone ‘pulls the strings’ the way you claim to. Yet, while you puff out your chest and take pride in your ‘first Hybrid championship defense’ you weaken yourself. You are not looking at the much larger picture. You know well, had I not been injured, that the Hybrid Championship picture would look much different right now. You can desperately claim that you have ‘grown’ and ‘changed’ since our last encounter, but all I see is a man who has gone untested since our last ‘outing’.”
“You contending that ‘my match with Ashe Corvin’ ground my screeching halt seems to put the blame on me for my own injury. Do you realize how that sounds? I defeated Ashe Corvin, despite my injury. I did not choose to be injured, yet you seem to need to assign blame. If you had a concussion and possible brain damage, would you have continued wrestling? Perhaps you would have been able to do so, simply because the masses are still uncertain how often you use the gray matter pinched between your ‘thick’ skull.”
“I don’t blame Ashe Corvin for my injury any more than I blame the word ‘swag’ for you saying it so repetitively. Injuries happen, it’s a risk we all take as professional athletes--you should know this and refrain from assigning blame, fool. Regardless, I have been cleared from that injury and my career is no longer at a ‘screeching halt’ as you put it. Now, the only question is, who will you blame when you leave Cataclysm without the Hybrid Championship? You’ll have only your own reflection in the mirror to blame. Then again, when you’re looking at yourself, will you be able to place blame upon the face you love so much?”
“Soon, you will be face to face with your Cataclysm and you will not like what you see. I suggest you clutch that Hybrid Championship close, while it still bears your name. Soon, you will find yourself ‘growing’ and ‘changing’ thanks to another defeat at my hands.”

If you want to be great then you should be able to affect the people around you in a positive way. If people hate me then it’s because they hate swag and what they think it stands for. They hate that I’m 19 and traveling on world tours. They hate that I fill my promos full of jokes. They hate that video game references pop up in all of my quotes. They hate that my trash talk lets me chew through wrestlers like a stick of gum. They hate that when I beat their favorite wrestlers they end up looking dumb. People hate me for a lot of different reasons and that’s out of my control. However, I can tell you that the amount of people that love me dwarf the amount of people that hate me. And out of all the people that hate me I can guarantee you that the reasons are superficial.
Ever since I started wrestling there have been people trying to get me to cross lines. Telling me it would be easier if I did this or that. Yet, throughout all of it. I have stuck to my convictions. Never once have I set out to take a shortcut or take the low road. That’s not who I am. That’s not what I stand for. Blood, sweat, and swag. Trivialize the motto if you want but you cannot shake the foundation of work that it stands on. Which is why I don’t understand when people think my actions prove that the only thing I value is attention. No, my actions prove that I value entertainment. There’s a big difference. What’s the difference? The same difference that exists between Elina Cartel and I. The same difference that had her patting herself on the back after winning the Hybrid Championship. Meanwhile I was putting an entire division on mine.
Another difference is that apparently traveling the lowest road possible doesn’t bother you does it Elina? At least that’s what you displayed in your first promo. You showed exactly what desperate people do. And the moment that I finished watching it was the moment that I lost all respect for you. You see, I could just shake my head and roll my eyes at all of your super eccentric look at me I’m a special space princess antics. But, I never got the feeling that underneath it all you were actually a shit person. At least not until your first promo let the world see down to the depths of you.
I’m not even going to lie, I’m recording three promos this week. This is kind of like my match with Deus. There’s so much that needs to be addressed that two promos isn’t going to cut it. So, I can guarantee you that a third promo will be popping up on the Antisocial Network. In this promo I’m going to keep it to wrestling and in that one I’m just going to bury you. It’s as simple as that.
Now let’s talk about wrestling. If you can honestly say that I haven’t changed since our last match then you’re not a star princess. You’re a clown princess. Diego slowly starting to infuse more and better striking into my style is already a big change. Then add to that the fact that I’m now a member of the Badd Breed. What you get is a wrestler who is nothing like he was before. The benefit of being in a group like the Badd Breed isn’t obvious to everyone. However, it has been an immense help. While we may not agree with each other on everything. We at least hear where the other members are coming from. We see and understand why they do what they do. How they do what they do. And what has made them successful. It’s just a bigger base of knowledge to draw from. More people for you to bounce ideas off of.
Not only has all of that helped me change but just having Diego as a manager in general has helped. Go to the Antisocial Network and look at the promo that I did leading up to our last match. Then look at the promos that I have done since then. You’re really going to try to say that I’m in the same place mentally? Have you been smoking moon rocks? Snorting stardust? Drinking Mars water perhaps? Every Dr. Who fan watching this just had a panic attack because of that last one. I’m sorry ya’ll, I had to do it. She’s on something. I wouldn’t be surprised if SHIDO is using his Hentai Brand endorsement money to support her habit. Space drugs ain’t cheap.
The moral of the story is this Elina. The term static doesn’t apply to me. Unless you’re using it in it’s slang form. Which is interchangeable with problems, beef, and trouble. That fits. Beef? We’ve got it. Trouble? You’re in it. Problems? I am one. However, you go ahead and expect the same K-Remix you got last time. And I promise you that one way or another you’re going to regret it.
Lastly, I suppose you’d like an answer to your abuse allegations. So my answer to those allegations is this. At the end of the day your whole first promo tried to show how bad my mental state is. I’ve already proven that I’m mentally in a much better place than I was before our first match. So, what does that tell you? That you dedicated an entire promo to harping on something that’s going to be a non-factor in our match? Congratulations because if you came to that conclusion then you’re finally right about something.
