Wide Awake

     The ‘King of the World’ and now self dubbed ‘Dictator’, ‘God’ of Elysium has delighted his followers with his encouraging use of the thesaurus to describe himself, but the question I must pose is whether or not he has truly earned these ‘nicknames’ he self applies? Defeating the likes of Erik Holland earns one these labels? If Erik Holland were capable of a complete thought both in and outside of the ring, then perhaps. However, this simply is not the case. Shido has yet to be tested and if he were truly ‘all knowing’, he would realize that his ‘spoiler’ of the outcome of Wide Awake is as nonsensical as the majority of his self-congratulatory rambling. Perhaps if Shido had defended the title more often, he would have driven deeper into these Elysian Fields and found out that even ‘Gods’ can bleed and ultimately be crushed.
     You see, when Shido decided to accept my declaration that these are indeed the Elysian Fields, he accepted polytheism, which is the recognition of multiple gods. Yes, Shido may be a ‘God’ if it’s clearly so important, yet, the learned individual must realize that he is merely a ‘God’ surrounded by many other ‘Gods’. There is no hierarchy on these leveled Elysian Fields. Shido may have simply dictated his own fate.
     Shido’s mask has slipped as he desperately exclaims that we are all ‘wanna bes’ and ‘traitors’ as if he is the teenage boy recently bullied via social media. Shido is bound by the reality he lives within, not vice versa. Respect so easily replaced by revulsion. The only title apt for our dear Shido, at this point, is ‘primadonna’. If only Shido could wake up and realize he’s shattered his own ‘enigma’.
     Hubris and repetition is what has been presented to this date. From Shido’s constant enigmatic drawl ultimately dismantled by his being threatened, to Alyssa Daniels and her constant need to make mountains of each and every mole hill. Again, we’re presented with Alyssa Daniels presenting yet another match in her young career as this grand hopeful moment. Perhaps, within her shroud of daydreams, she sees herself as a ‘Rocky Balboa’ or, to suit those enraptured by contemporary underdogs, ‘Creed’. She wants the fans to root for her, she wants the fans to believe in her, because ultimately- she needs the encouragement. In the same way Shido gazes upon his toothy grin in the mirror, she needs that reflection to engage her drive.
     Alyssa, the sweet devushka, has all of the potential in the world. Her’s could be a brighter light than mine or even king with broken crown, Shido. Yet, with that said, she seldom ever focuses. She fires off, not unlike a poorly aimed shotgun, and then rears her head back to see if she’s done any damage. Perhaps, she should close twitter, put her phone down, and read Sun Tzu. When I think of her, I think of something he wrote: ‘Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.’
     Regardless of the titles you wear, Alyssa, until you wake up, you will always be the defeated warrior.
     Deimos seems to believe his previous daliences with the management of Elysium seem to have meaning whilst he steps into the ring at Wide Awake. His attempt to demean Shido was rudimentary at best and in a situation where he had no one to hold him up, even our fallen ‘God’ Shido could rival him. Yes. Deimos-I believe you are a foolish warrior searching for a dragon whilst ignoring the size of the tracks. The oxygen, even in the foothills of Mount Olympus is far too thin for your mortal lungs. Perhaps you find my claims bold, but your claims in reference to Elina Cartel merely made the statement, ‘I took a moment to read your bio, Elina’ and I suggest that next time, wake up and gaze closely upon the fine print.
     Hubris and empty confidence seems to be the thematic for so many of our opponents. Both members of the ‘Enigma Protocol’ seem to believe, if they just ‘say it’ that it ‘will happen’. Yet, when put under a microscope, it’s easy to clarify that both are simply out of their element. They have name calling and meaningless history to keep them ‘warm at night’, but there is clearly no ‘enigma’ to be had here. One could easily deduce that they finally settled for this ‘tag team name’ simply because ‘it sounds cool’. These two will sleep forever.
     FM Young is still in the gym, yet now she sits upon a throne and likens herself to warriors and a litany of other basic statements. Yet, we’ve seen this before. She suffers from this constant repetition of events and statements. It’s almost as if FM Young assumes we have all forgotten about her each and every time she needs to ‘cut’ another promo. If only she could grow beyond this need to display her might and slide out her simplistic insults. If only she could wake up and become a true threat for the most sought after Championship and not simply be synonymous with the ‘third place’ Championship.
     Sam Hamilton is not unlike FM Young, only add a dash of Alyssa’s self doubt. However, in actuality, one can respect Sam Hamilton. She’s nearly awake - she’s aware of her limitations. She’s aware of the uphill battle ahead of her. Her self reflection is not coming from a place of desperation, like Alyssa. Her need to display her strength comes from a place of vulnerability, but at least, it’s displayed in FM Young’s nauseating light.
      And finally, Azurine, and now I speak directly, while I have asked each of my opponents to wake up - you are the exception. Please, go to sleep and never wake up.
