" 'Tis the season to be jolly "
Yuuto Tatsugami walks through the centre of a town square. Caroller's all around, a massive Christmas tree in the middle of them all. Yuuto seemed to be looking for someone in particular. This wasn't exactly a scene he looked particularly comfortable in, however. Despite the obvious cold weather, with everyone around him wearing multiple layers, and the snow still falling, Yuuto was dressed as if it was quite average out. He was in a blue dress shirt with a golden tie, the tie embroidered with black flower designs. He had on a vest with the front being coal black and the back a satin gold. His pants were pitch black as well. He rose his hands to his eye line, staring into his watch. He was waiting for something or someone, but it was unsure what that was. He tapped it three times before walking offscreen.
The camera went to follow, and as he was brought back into view two men in black suits ran onto the screen, chasing behind him. The camera followed the chase, as all three seemed to get to full running speed. Yuuto ran to a low wall and used a metal trash bin to make a large leap over. The camera cut and revealed that Yuuto was no longer running, instead just hugging the wall. Pulling out the two-men chasing Yuuto scampered over the wall, landing a foot in front of him on either side. Yuuto grabbed to his right, taking one of the men by the arm and throwing him around into the other. The two men would have collided, but the free one caught his partner. Yuuto still had the arm, however, and used that to his advantage. Coiling his arm around his opponent's, he bent the elbow the wrong direction and ran his feet up the wall. The man with his arms free managed to duck, and so Yuuto clocked the man whose arm he had with a shattering kick that left him out cold, in the cold.
Yuuto was too his feet and barely managed to duck a roundhouse kick from the still standing attacker. Yuuto backs up, avoiding multiple strong kicks and punches as he does. One massive kick comes for his side, but he manages to grab it. The attacker doesn't waste much time, using his caught leg as an anchor to lift his other up and go for another kick. Yuuto, almost on instinct, grabbed that one as well. His attacker landed back first into the snow, and Yuuto used this opportunity to hit the finishing blow. He threw both legs down, and flipped forward, spinning through the air as he did, and coming down hard on the chest of his assailant. Yuuto, just to make sure the man couldn't follow, hit another stomp to his head, knocking him out cold.
Both men were down, and Yuuto was free to flee from the men who could no longer give chase.
Yuuto stood now in front of a white screen. He gave a shallow bow to the camera and the people who would end up watching his video. His hair was combed back and put into a man-bun. His eyes looked deadly serious as he began to speak to the fans at home. As he began to speak to Azurine Vebbins.
"My first contest in Elysium, and the opportunity for a title already. Truly a world of opponents in front of me, but the first, and arguably most important of them will be Azurine Vebbins.
Unfortunately, I can't just focus on you. I have to focus on multiple athletes at once, so you have a third of my attention currently. There is a reason I said you were likely the most important, however. I don't just have to beat you Azurine, I have to beat you without using too much energy. I have to beat you without getting hurt. I have to beat you, and still be in the shape to go at it twice in one night.
It's a double-edged sword.
If I don't go all out against you, there's a good chance you could beat me. You're a great athlete, you're on my list of prospects. But I'll talk about that later. You are truly a competitor I need to be worried about.
However, if I spend too much energy dealing with you, then I may not have the energy to defeat Townsend or Areano. Both of which are amazing athletes in their own right. So how do I go about defeating you, without wearing myself down? My benefit is, you'll be worried about the exact same thing. You see, I do have to go all out, and play it safe, but so do you. If you don't, I'll take advantage. Even if that doesn't happen, you'll lose in the second round. So I can be fairly confident that you're in the exact same boat as me.
I've travelled the world, searching for the greatest athletes it contains. I search for the people who have been reincarnated, I search for my kind, and I search for people like you. I'm not sure if you are the type I am looking for, but you surely could be. I promise to explain more, but I want to test you first. I want to see if you are what I believe you to be before I reveal to you what you are. So when we step into the ring against one another, I expect nothing less but your A-Game. I don't think I need to be the one to warn you, but if you don't, and I do, your journey to the Hybrid Title ends in the first round. That would be a shame. Mostly because I don't want to beat someone not giving it their all. People like me, and possibly, people like us, crave competition to the highest degree. We settle for nothing less."

National Candy Cane Day
[The following promotional material was recorded on Wednesday, December 26th, 2018 from Los Angeles, California. “The Adorkable Angel” Azurine Vebbins is seen leaning her arms on a large candy cane when a security camera begins capturing footage.]
Azurine Vebbins: Salutations and warmest holiday greetin’s, folk! Yes, it’s dat time of year when pomp and peppermint swirl. Today is indeed National Candy Cane Day. Why did I choose to highlight dis holiday for my Elysium promotional material? ’Cause a candy cane symbolizes my dree possible dance partners in da Nightfall Hybrid Championship Dance-Off. I know one of my assigned dance partners will be “Dragon Lord” Yuuto Tatsugami. However, da second dance partner will be determined in a kerfuffle shuffle featurin’ “Da Black Phoenix” Anica Townsend and da hotter half of Paradise Tango...my work wife...Talia Areano. Deyr’s positives and negatives for eider outcome, but I feel compelled to tell my chanters how every-din’ correlates.
First, da white portions of a candy cane symbolize purity. As far as da main roster of Elysium is concerned, Nightfall will be Tatsugami’s virgin dance. I will do my best to make sure he doesn’t, um, “bust a move” too quickly. After all, bein’ our first time to-ged-er I want to make sure he feels special. Heard Yuuto wants me to brin’ my “A-Game?” Unfortunately for him, it will be “Aggravation” alphabetically or “SORRY!” in actuality.
Amazed he can synchronize juggles of humility and hubris, too. Tatsugami believes he’s a reincarnated god. It’s a sign he’s humble since he devolved into a decaffeinated dude. It’s a sign of hubris ’cause you shouldn’t waltz in actin’ like a higher power. As for testin’ me? You aren’t Q from Star Trek so dat’s not happenin’. All da same, sir, you are a six to nine-minute minuet at best. Meanwhile, da next dame I’m discussin’ is someone I could tango ten times longer.
Dat dame, in particular, is “Da Black Phoenix” Anica Townsend. She represents da red stripes ’cause dat’s all we view when we’re wid-in eyesight of each od-er. Bleep caned me in da cabeza wid a light tube durin’ da Glitches premiere tapin’! What are da positives of bein’ paired up against her in da Hybrid Championship Dance-Off Finals? A. Yours truly would be avengin’ a loss suffered to her work wife Talia Areano. 2. Townsend’s skipped a step or two since losin’ at Chapter VI. C. Anica deserves a receipt for her heinous hijinks.
Of course, deyr are also negatives as well. Means chanters watch a rematch dat might not live up to da original. I might not be able to seal da deal and as a babyface would have to chase da heel. Anoder negative is dat Anica Townsend would be da next Hybrid Champion after Boots Martin’s reign of terror. Dat strap on her waist might never come off. Still, I should appreciate da heavens someone else could be grapplin’ Vebbins.
Dis obviously leads me to my preferred alternative. You’re wonderin’ what Talia symbolizes, aren’t you? She represents da cane itself. Whenever “Da Adorkable Angel” needs support or someone to lean on, it’s Ms. Areano. She’s a blestie no matter what happens. However, she’s also more dangerous dan Tatsugami or Townsend since she knows what it takes to become champion. She’s currently reignin’ and defendin’ titles for od-er companies she competes in. I also suspect much like our team entrance when fightin’ as Paradise Tango, Talia will feel da need to lead me into havin’ a competitive contest. Don’t worry, sashayin’ senorita, come Nightfall I will be da one havin’ you on your heels for once.
Admittedly, it’s a hypo-det-i-cal, but dat’s da sanctioned showdown chanters will cheer for since it will be clean as a whistle. And believe you me, I wasn’t jokin’ when referrin’ to Areano as da “hotter half” given crowd reaction. Still, we are two of da most technical grapplers in all of Elysium. We share a common bond of divinely inspired finishers. When all’s said and done, dough, da Pearly Gatekeeper cuts deeper dan a Slice of Heaven. Much like da sweet treat I’ve been comparin’ my contemporaries to, she can suck on dat notion for quite a while.
[Vebbins ends the scene by laying the large candy cane flat on the floor, covering it completely, and slapping her hand three times to indicate a pinfall.]
