The scene opens with Jeremy in his high rise in Malibu, in an unbuttoned shirt and slacks, typing away on his laptop, an email to parties unknown as we do not get a good view of the screen before he has hit send. In the background, the sound of a shower is heard. Jeremy looks in that direction and smiles lightly, standing up almost at the same time a knock comes to the door. Jeremy blinks a couple times in agitation before heading over and opening the door. A woman with sandy colored hair and red high-class attire which looks to cost more than the high rise itself.
”Mother? What are you doing here?” His mother barges past him, her heels making soft clicks on the floor. ”Of course, by all means, come in.”
”Do not put your sass on me. And as to my presence it is to deal with my errant son obviously. I swear Jeremy I thought I had you raised better than what I have seen recently from you.”
Jeremy closes the door and purses his lips. ”And what is it this time that I have failed so miserably in that warrants a personal visit?”
He grudgingly invites her to sit in the common area. She takes the largest chair quickly, putting Jeremy in one of the couches. ”My lawyers called me and advised me as to your recent actions regarding that… thing you spawned with that girl.”
”I will warn you only once mother, you will speak kindly when referring to Destiny or my daughter Trinity.” His mother scoffs at the name. ”It is that or you will leave my residence. I tolerate your presence by our blood alone. Nothing more and never make the mistake of thinking otherwise.”
”Blood is the reason I’ve come though. And why you must speed the process of getting your full custody soon.”
”It isn’t so simple. My sister has current legal custody by Destiny’s last wishes. Their marriage set that in an iron casing.”
”You are a Starling! Don’t let such novelties like legalities stand in the way of claiming what is yours!”
”I never have, but there is a process that is being closely monitored. And if you knew my father as well as you think you did, you would know his daughter is equally as shrewd as him.”
Jeremy’s mother stands in a rage. ”Do not question my experience with your father!”
Jeremy stands in a matching emotion. ”Do not walk into my house and accuse me of failing in my duties! I have many objectives simultaneously being handled so if you please I will attend to them in my time. Not yours.”
Jeremy and his mother glare at each other until she heads for the door and walks out. Jeremy continues watching the door, shaking his head. ”I have so much planned, nothing will be the same when I am through.”

”Insults come at a price most people cannot afford to pay.
“In the case of Godless, he has chosen to insult me by not placing me in contention for any of the titles. Not even a number one contender match. It’s infuriating! And while last time I was relegated to ‘breaking in’ the new guy now I am forced to contend with the man I replaced in the Wideawake tournament. This is Kelly Godless’ idea of fair shots here? That I should have to now defeat someone who couldn’t even be bothered to keep himself healthy enough for the debut of Elysium.
“So Vitoly Volkov, you believe yourself somehow superior because you have your victory here? Then pay close attention ‘God Tier’, misnomer if I ever heard one, because I have some possibly breaking news for you: you defeated a drunk. Not just an alcoholic, but a man whose entire charade of a life revolves around falling off bar stools and getting booted from said bars for drinking the place dry. That ‘victory’ of yours is worthless, pathetic. Anyone on this roster could have defeated that poser, which is about all the credit I am willing to give them.
“And I’m sure you have words regarding my victory, but the difference is my victory, while assured just by my being Born Better, was hard-fought against someone who had a semblance of a modicum of an infinitesimal amount of skill to be lauded. You had a match with someone who couldn’t stand on his own two feet for more than two seconds anyway. And you couldn’t even grant him the peace of a quick victory. No you completely tore him to shreds, humiliated him. In any other circumstance I might applaud this, but if you believe that to be the measuring stick of your chances against me, you’re in for a universe of disappointment.
“Do you have an inkling of understanding yet? Just because you label yourself on a level with a deity and a single, pathetically earned victory doesn’t mark you my equal or superior. Nor will you ever be if that is all you have to fall back to. However, if you’re so confident in your ability, you should have little trouble handling me, but you’ll find I am not just some fall down, disoriented drifter so I honestly doubt that your victory is even possible. No, I am ‘Living Greatness’ and I have earned that right. I may have fallen short in the Wideawake tournament, but it was the match that set the tone for the tournament, unlike the rest. At least I can hold my head high with that loss more so than you can with your victory.
“That’s right, my loss earned more for me than your victory. The fact that I too was victorious in that show as well just puts me even higher. And once I have felled a God, perhaps then Godless will recognize his error and give me what Elysium itself needs me to have: the chance at a title. Mark this, Volkov, your only warning.”

|| обещает обещания || Privet mal'chik. Hello boy. Vitoly is of course speaking to you young Starling. A nineteen year old with a multitude of problems, problems that would disorient and baffle any normal boy. These issues are inconceivable to most but these problems are what you can look forward to when you are born better. Because of this idea then Jeremy will come out of this personal firestorm unscathed.
Or so Jeremy would have you believe.
Vitoly has more hair on his knuckles than Jeremy has on his whole body and yet the little man has the gall to try and speak down to the God Tier. Vitoly would admire it if it was not so absurd. He truly is a little boy, trying to get into Vitoly’s head and attempting to say things that he thinks Vitoly is about to say. Like a little brother nipping at Vitoly’s heels.
Adorable.
First of all let us be clear about something Baby Boss, Vitoly never gave an ounce of credibility to KEG’s acumen as a competitor. Quite the opposite actually. Vitoly called KEG an embarrassment and Vitoly lamented over having to waste his time against a drunkard and a scoundrel like KEG. Vitoly never once bragged about his victory, Vitoly knew that it was a foregone conclusion. The reason that Vitoly did not afford KEG a swift death was because Vitoly made KEG a promise. Vitoly said exactly this, “It is a waste of Vitoly’s time and talent to compete with the likes of you. And for that Vitoly will bring an added level of violence that you could never imagine possible. He will do this because of the insult that your presence brings.” Where Vitoly comes from if you make a promise or guarantee then that is honored. No exceptions.
That is why KEG was annihilated.
Mal’chik you must listen closely now. Sit at the base of the God Tier’s learning tree and for radi Borga take heed of Vitoly’s words. Vitoly knows that it is the prerogative of the infantile to speak without thinking, to spew lies and disinformation. It is a defence mechanism, Vitoly knows this and he does not blame you. Your juvenile mindset is not entirely your fault, but it will be your undoing if you continue down this road. You may have the idea that you were born better but the way that Vitoly sees it, you were also born yesterday. A toddler like you, with the lack of sense that you have shown can only breed disaster. For both you, your billion dollar company and your detka.
What was her name...Trinity? Her dead mother was Destiny? Yes? Please do not mistake Vitoly’s bluntness as a way of trivializing the loss of human life but Vitoly stopped paying death any mind many decades ago. Vitoly does find it interesting that both your dead lover and your offspring seem to share similarities in their first names. They were both named with the foresight that they will likely become sex workers in some regard. If that is not the intention then my apologies, those are just very common names for whores where I come from. Perhaps naming your daughter something so ruined is yet another example of your ignorance, in fact it must be.
One would hope.
You see Jeremy the things that Vitoly has learned about you from the words that you speak are numerous. For that Vitoly thanks you. A man who has endured the experiences that Vitoly has in his life have given him an appreciation for little lessons. Vitoly has learned from your padded rhetoric that you are all bravado and no substance. A man of nineteen with grief on his mind, a custody battle over an infant, the demands of running a billion dollar company and the gruelling schedule of a professional wrestler - well there is simply no way that you can succeed in all of these endeavours. As made evident last week when a former NFL player, who lacked any real ring experience, made you look like you had even less aptitude for the squared circle than him. Whatley embarrassed you and you in turn embarrassed our professional. Well done boy. Vitoly knows that you won Jeremy, but you did not look like a winner in the least. It is documented that your victory was a fluke.
Much like the other things in your life.
Your daughter? Likely the result of botched contraception. Your position as CEO? Likely a public relations ploy enacted by a smarter, older executive. Mr. Godless most definitely sees you as the lame duck that you are because you have yet to do anything of note in Elysium. You have not been given an opportunity at a championship or even an opportunity at an opportunity for a championship. You may think it is conspiracy mal’chik but anyone who is paying attention knows that it is because your are nothing. You are all sizzle and no steak, as you Americans like to say.
If you choose to speak about the God Tier again, boy, might Vitoly recommend that you do a little more research? A modicum of fact finding would serve you well. Vitoly would also recommend that you measure your words carefully and try to deliver some form of substance. You do not want to end up like so many men that have tested Vitoly’s patience and his lack of tolerance for childish games.
This is no game you little bastard.
This is Vitoly's livelihood and historically those who stand between Vitoly and his desires tend to disappear. Do not do that to your daughter. If you speak Vitoly's name again without giving it the respect that it commands then perhaps Vitoly must make another promise, similar to the one he made to KEG.
Do not make Vitoly promise you, think about your family.
