AMBITION
As a camcorder turns on, it shows the Titaness half-running, half-jogging. Behind her are the sun set and a mostly empty road. Her pace slows to a more relaxed one. What used to be heavy, labored breaths turn calm as she notices the camera focused right at her. A coy smirk spreads over her face as she waves.
"Hallowed Ground was as breath-taking as the scenery behind me, if I do say so myself. That's exactly what makes it all the more exciting. The difference in watching and actually
participating in something is huge! So hell and yes, you damn well better believe I am
ecstatic to finally see how well all of my years of training and hard work have paid off. So, according to my informants, I'm going against ... who again?"
A foreign voice, likely the one holding the camera, replies quickly, "Adam Stryker."
"Who?" The Titaness replies, her grin widening. "See, Mr.
Stryker, when it comes to things I'm passionate and love, I always do my homework. I'm not
all brawn and no brains like some people may immediately assume. As such, I, too, watched the Hallowed Ground event. Suffice to say, I didn't see any Adam Stryker's in it. You know what
that tells me? That single fact implies that
you don't want victory as much as I do. You see, whereas
you took a break - or so that's what you say - I have never once stopped working towards this very moment."
The Titaness holds up nine fingers in front of the camera.
"See that, Adam? That's the age I knew I wanted to fight for a living. Now that I'm older, very much in my prime, and raring to go,
nothing is gonna stop me. In fact, that was another thing I discovered while browsing through your career and background history. Learning you left Elysium. That spells out you don't have as much pride as you could, or should. I, on the other hand ... am going to make this my world, my
everything."
The Titaness lowered her right hand, keeping her left up. As the next words passed her parted lips, she would raise a digit up.
"Past. Present.
And my future. This is what wrestling has
always been for me. I don't sense that from you. You say you've done this for eleven years and try to imply you're
so passionate about it. Yet all the while, you never stayed with Elysium. Can you understand why that feels rather amiss to me?"
The Titaness offered a casual shrug, raising her forearm to wipe the sweat away from her head.
"Honestly, I'm not likely going to find that answer out anytime soon. Not before we meet in the ring, anyway. Do know this, however; you've got a
lot of your facts about me very much wrong. Yes, it is correct that I want to see how far I can go in what used to be a male-dominant sport. But there is
soooooo much more to me than what meets the eye."
The Titaness paused, silently contemplating on how to proceed from here on out.
"Any other motives - should you care to actually
learn them - will need to be worked for. And not in a half-assed manner, either. As of right now, I am
literally strolling down the road to success. I'm heading for Vegas right now with nothing but pure intentions to enter the ring and
win. I am not many things, nor names. Primarily any you listed. And because of that, I
promise you that our fight will
not be the same as any other you've had before."
Her eyes narrowed as a brief but very irritated expression entered the Titaness's hazel orbs.
"Just because you've beaten all your other female opponents before, that sure as shit does
not mean you will
always emerge the victor. Granted,
I realize that even I, myself, may not win. But I can say that I have continued to grasp and cling onto my dream and desire. It has never changed, nor has my destination on where I'm going to play out what I've worked so hard for; to earn a spot in a ring and fight against any and everyone designated foe. Right here and now, I'm gonna make you a few promises that I will keep from this very second until we officially meet in the ring."
The same three fingers the Titaness rose disappeared briefly. Slowly, but very surely, they began to show up as Samantha spoke once more.
"This fight will be like
none of your other fights with or against women. Hell and no! You most definitely will
not win by forcing me to submit. If you win at all, it'll be - hopefully - via a pinfall. Point number three? If for even one millisecond you don't come at me with every ounce of determination and will power you've got, you
will lose. Because
I have come too damn far to just up and lose. Sure, that'll happen every now and again. But I, too, intend on arriving into Elysium and making an impact. So you, Mr. Stryker, damn well better be as serious as I am. Otherwise?"
The Titaness finally pointed right at herself.
"I
guarantee that victory
will be mine."
Her head tilted as a new thought entered the Titaness's head. "I'm curious ... what are you doing while you're watching this, hm? Oh, and for the record, I started this walk-slash-jog a few days ago, back in Chicago. I'm in Seattle at the moment. I'll see you in Vegas. Just remember what they always say; what happens there, stays there. Regardless of whether I win or lose, I intend to beat you so badly that you'll
never leave Vegas. Not anytime soon, anyway."
The Titaness waves one last time before the camcorder cuts out, and she disappears from sight.
