I'm always curious if my fellow handlers have a certain way they end up writing their RPs.
For me for a long time, I always write the dialogue first as in what Erik or any other character says, and then build the scene after that.

I am typically the other way around. Scene first. BUT! Not so much in feds with a word count. For instance, the vlog rps obviously do not worry much for scenery, so in that scenario is shoot shoot, bang bang. But outside of an outline or some such, my longer promos typically start with a setting.

For longer RP feds, I just think of what needs to be said about the character.
For shorter places, I just write and try to make sense of whatever the character's personality is.
All while drinking and sobbing over a keyboard. Writer's Laziness (not block) is a bitch.

for non-mirco feds I usually just get random ideas from random things and work it into an RP if I think itll fit.
For stuff like Elysium just shoot and try to portray the character through his voice/words

I'm a debater at heart, and always write my best stuff when I have an opponent. Anyone who knows me will tell you that my straight-shoot style hasn't changed much over the years, but I always try to target the content and context of what my character says to the specific opponent, going as deep into their history as I can.
